A Peek At February 6, 2017

Presidential Press Conference – The White House – Washington DC

February 6, 2017

The President: “Good morning, I have an opening statement.  This is a special time for America.   In November the good people of this country elected me to be their President.  As I promised during the campaign I am prepared with the help of our majorities in both the House and the Senate to move America back to greatness.  We started this process in 2013 when we repealed the Affordable Care Act.  That was the beginning.  In the days to come I will announce a number of important initiatives that will put this country back on the right track.  Finally, I want to make it clear to the leaders of Iran.  This President will not, under any circumstances, allow it to continue its dangerous policies.  Our armed forces stand ready to prevent any activities that we deem a danger to our nation.’

‘I will now take a few questions.  First, Mr. White of the Washington Post.’

Mr. White:  ‘Thank you President Cruz.  Would you please elaborate on the kind of initiatives you are planning to introduce?’

The President: “Certainly.  Over the past 50 plus years this country has been in the grip of left-wing reactionaries who have kept us on a path that has taken away our freedoms and damaged our economy.  The laws of the government have over reached and cut our Constitution into tatters and attacked our Christian values  I will begin to remedy this horror by seeking to promptly eliminate the EPA, and the Department of Education.  I will ask the Congress to repeal the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as the Voting Rights Act.  In addition we will stand strong for the Second Amendment and prevent any attempt to reduce our right to bare arms.  Finally, I will ask that my Attorney General seek a path to the reversal of Roe v Wade.   There was a time when America was great, when government was small and “What was good for General Motors, was good for the USA”.  I believe in the basic goodness and fairness of the American people.  We don’t need a bunch of laws to force people to treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated.  I  believe that we are at our best when the government allows us to live by the sacred and honored words; ” under god with liberty and justice for all”.

“Next question from Mr. Brown from the Wall Street Journal”

Mr. Brown: “President Cruz how far are we willing to go to prevent the Iranians from continuing their current behavior?”

The President:  “America has a responsibility, as the greatest military power the world has ever known, to protect the world from tyranny and spread the blessings of liberty.  We will use whatever power is necessary to achieve our goals.  American blood has been spilled the world over in the cause of freedom.  We will continue to do so, when necessary, as we honor those who came before us.”

Anyone who believes that the scenario depicted above is farfetched is simply not listening to the far right or reading the  writings of the GOP.  Just read the GOP platform from the last presidential election.  The attempt to repeal the ACA is clearly the first step in a campaign to return us to the “bad old days”.  This isn’t my imagination.  This has all been documented by the GOP itself.  Let’s protect America from this scourge while we still can.
